A Custom Wine Tasting Room Inspired by One Piece
This custom wine tasting room began with a single question. A customer had seen one of our hand-painted sideboards and asked where she could purchase it. The piece featured an antique black painted finish with grapevine artwork on the doors.
That sideboard became the inspiration for the entire room. David Michael used its design, finish, and painted details as the starting point for a complete custom wine tasting space.
Custom Painted Cabinetry
The room includes custom cabinetry created to coordinate with the original sideboard. The antique black painted finish gives the space depth and rustic character. Hand-painted grapevine artwork appears throughout the cabinetry, including the crown, drawer fronts, pilasters, and upper cabinet doors.
This repeated detail helps connect the room visually. It also gives the cabinetry a handcrafted quality that feels personal and collected.
Wine Storage and Display
The upper wall cabinets include leaded glass doors, lighted interiors, and glass shelves. These details allow bottles, glassware, and decorative pieces to become part of the room’s presentation.
Open wine storage adds function while also contributing to the overall design. The cabinetry was planned to feel both useful and decorative.
Rustic Materials and Warm Surfaces
A butcher block countertop brings warmth to the painted cabinetry. The natural wood surface softens the darker finish and works well with the rustic stone walls.
A matching trestle table continues the same material language. It gives the room a comfortable place for tasting, conversation, and entertaining.
Coordinated Seating and Details
A matching bench with two drawers adds storage and seating. The reversible seat cushion gives the piece added flexibility.
Rustic hardware completes the cabinetry and reinforces the old-world character of the room. Together, the painted finish, grapevine artwork, stone walls, wood surfaces, and iron details create a warm and inviting space.
A Personal Room for Wine and Entertaining
This custom wine tasting room shows how one special piece can inspire an entire interior. What began as interest in a painted sideboard became a complete room with coordinated cabinetry, storage, seating, and architectural character.
The finished space feels intimate, rustic, and highly personal. It was designed for wine, conversation, and the enjoyment of a room made around the client’s vision.
