A Warm French Provincial Vision
This French Provincial custom interior began with a homeowner’s vision for a warm residence shaped by natural walnut, graceful architectural lines, and traditional European craftsmanship. David Michael worked with the homeowner, interior designer, and our design team to develop the final plans and guide the project from concept to installation.
Custom Walnut Architectural Details
Solid walnut creates the architectural foundation throughout the home. The project includes arched window moldings, arched doors and passageways, crown molding, ceiling beams, and custom cabinetry. These details give the interior a sense of continuity, warmth, and old-world character.
The handcrafted woodwork does more than finish the rooms. It becomes part of the architecture itself. Each area carries the same attention to proportion, material, and detail.
European Walnut Kitchen
The kitchen features solid European walnut cabinetry with black American walnut doors and drawer fronts. This combination creates a subtle two-tone effect and highlights the depth of the wood grain.
A custom walnut hood serves as the focal point of the kitchen. Pull-out vertical spice storage adds function on each side. Seeded glass cabinet doors with wood mullions, detailed crown moldings, and a large central island complete the room.
White marble countertops provide a clean contrast to the warmth of the walnut. Dark French blue bar stools, upholstered in Italian leather, add a tailored accent.
Dining Room Furnishings
David Michael also furnished the dining room. The room includes a restored antique sideboard from our one-of-a-kind antiques collection. A trestle dining table with an inlaid top anchors the space.
Ten high-back dining chairs complete the setting. Together, these pieces create a room that feels formal, inviting, and well suited for entertaining.
Additional Custom Work
The project also included a bathroom vanity finished in a soft sand lacquer. Upper glass-door cabinets add useful storage and bring a lighter finish to the private spaces of the home.
